want vs desire
wanting vs desiring
to want vs to desire
wanting, desiring, yearning, longing
longing for
what are the key differences between these things
that all sound similar
to the modern ear?
to the modern western ear?
the modern western mind
i do not know how to define them
so that it is clear what each of them is
and how they are different
i am certain that these distinctions are important
i am certain that
in our modern western society,
we want
we want a lot
we want often
want want want
i am less certain
but almost fully certain
that we do not understand desire
i suspect
that there is a great pleasure
in desire
when “done right”
(“done” “right”)
i saw something online a few days ago
something meant to stand out
and look important
(but not deeply, truly important
rather: trendy)
and the thumbnail said something along the lines of
‘the end of desire’
it rubbed me the wrong way
i cannot recall any more details about it
but there was more to it
and i know that it had come from
a typical, common
shallow paradigm,
including the false idea
that one can reach the end
and just feel good all the time
in this life
desire
i need to understand it better
longing, yearning
